Title:Association of leprosy with HLA-DR2 in a Southern Brazilian population ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; 1997. 9 p. tab.
Abstract:The association between HLA specificities and lweprosy was investigated in a Southern Brazilian population. One hundred and twenty-one patients and 147 controls were typed for HLA-A, B, Cw, DR and DQ. Patients were subdivided into the following subgroups, according to clinical, histological and immunological criteria: lepromatous (N=55), tuberculoid (N=32), dimorphous (N=20), and indeterminate (N=14). The frequencies of HLA specificities were compared between the total group of patients and controls, and between the same controls and each subgroup of patients. After correction of the probabilities, deviations were not significant, except for the DR2 specificity, which presented a frequency of 44.2% in the total group of patients and 56.3% in the subgroup of invididuals with the tuberculoid from of the disease, compared to 23.3% in the controls. Stratified analysis showed that the increased DR2 frequency in the total group of patients was due to the subgroups with the tuberculoid and dimorphus forms. The relative risk of tuberculoid leprosy for DR2-positive individuals was 4.2 and etiologic fraction of DR2 was 0,429. In conclusion, a positive association of the DR2 specificity with the tuberculoid form of leprosy, but not with the lepromatous, dimorphous, or indeterminate forms, was demonstrated in this Southern Brazilian population (AU).

Title:Activated suppressor T cells in leprosy ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; nov. 1982. 6 p. tab, graf.
Abstract:Leprosy is a spectral disease in which the patients at the lepromatous end display selective immunologic unresponsiveness to antigens of M. leprae. We have previously explored the possibility that the anergy in lepromatous leprosy mediated by suppressor cells. An in vitro system was developed in which lepromin induces suppression of the mitogenic response of lepromatous and borderline but not tuberculoid leprosy patients to concavalin A.(AU).

Title:Natural supressor cells in human leprosy: the role of HDLA-D-identical peipheral lymphocytes and macrophages in the in vitro modulation of lymphoproliferative responses ..-
Source:s.l; s.n; nov. 1980. 8 p. tab.
Abstract:Six families with HLA-D-identical siblings suffering from leprosy were studied. Lymphocytes and macrophages isolated from the peripheral blood were co-cultured with allogeneic, HLA-D-identical cells and stimulated with M. Leprae antigens and concanavalin A. tuberculoid patients had circulating lymphocytes which showed marked functional suppression of lymphoproliferative responses to antigen and mitogen. In contrast, lepromatous patients showed weak lymphocyte suppressor activity. Macrophages derived from responder individuals augmented, while those derived from lepromatous patients inhibited, M. leprae-induced proliferation of lymphocytes.(AU).

Title:Comparaçao entre leituras clínica e histológica da reaçao de Mitsuda em indivíduos sadios adultos nao comunicantes de hanseníase ?-
Source:Sao Paulo; s.n; 1982. 115 p. ilus, tab.
Thesis:Present for Escola Paulista de Medicina presented for the degree Doutor.
